Hello everypony!
CMC Knight gave me the idea for this blog with the suggestion he made in my 300 followers post asking why the government in the Equestrian girls universe haven't discovered this magical portal to pony world.
Well CMC you will be glad to hear that I have an answer for that.
Several in fact.
This blog got long so strap in!
They do know about it and are keeping it a secret from the general public for reasons I will now explain.
The world of Equestria Girls was not always the way we see it today and at one point was actually a part of the world of ponies but powerful forces decided that they needed to cut a section of their world free and form a new world in a new dimension to suit their purposes.
The magic of this new dimension was drained away and funneled into the creation of a mirror portal.
A mirror that would be heavily guarded and would only be accessible at certain points in time.
A world where Starswirl the Bearded has been known to banish trouble makers.
That's right.
The world of Equestria Girls is the ponyverses version of Australia.
This is a world that began as prison colony for the unwanted and dangerous citizens that could no longer be tolerated to live in civilized society.
At first I would assume that this method of imprisonment was used only for the most irredeemable of criminal elements but as years pass and governments change I am sure that the variety of ponies punished this way was expanded by some and abused by others.
Stuck in a foreign dimension stripped of magic and unable to escape these prisoners were forced to make do and over time a new society grew and evolved.
The mirror that once resided in the possession of the two sisters was put to use one last time before it was hidden away, or rather, someone attempted to use it.
On King Sombra.
Now we know why the mirror was moved from its previous home to the Crystal Empire where it lay dormant and forgotten as the prisoner ponies grew and flourished on their side of the gateway.
"BUT INVISIBRONY," I hear you cry out, "WHY DOES EVERYPONY HAVE A DOPPLEGANGER AND WHY WAS THE MIRROR BACK IN THE HOOVES OF THE SISTERS?"
Shut up I'm getting to that!
As explained in my previous theories involving the role of the tree of harmony in Equestrias fate I believe it is responsible for giving Princess "sunbutt" Celestia her dreams of the future.
She knew that her former pupil would return and try to steal the crown from Purple book horse and used this opportunity to try and redeem the fallen filly.
Thus she arranged to have the mirror brought to Canterlot by a new member of the royal guard at the exact time Twilight would be visiting.
Since the world on the other side of the portal was originally a part of ponyland over time both sides of the torn land began to replace their missing halves causing the two realities to overlap and synchronize as the tree of harmony fought to maintain balance.
This was made easier by limiting the number of differing personalities in each dimensional reality and manipulating events to create a pattern of evolution and fate resulting in twin beings on each side.
Even with this factor the strain of holding together two dimensions has made the tree of harmony weaker and weaker along with the other events I have previously described and here is where I blow your minds.
Long ago Starswirl the Bearded ripped the world of ponies in two and conspired with others to keep it secret which started the land down a slow path of self destruction.
He did this with a spell we have all seen before.
A spell that years later was put into the hooves of a pony that was engineered and chosen by the tree of harmony to be the element of magic.
The pony who understood the magic of friendship and togetherness.
The pony who was able to fix the spell and has been set on the path to combining both dimensions into one whole and restoring things to the way they are meant to be.
This is why the two dimensions are twinned as it will make the reconciliation that much easier on everyone.
