Hello everypony!
I am here today to prove to you that all of my theories are actually true, or at the very least make sense, by diving into the Season 4 finale episodes “Twilight's Kingdom” parts one and two and showing you just how my insanity ties together.
This is a looooong one.

We begin part one of the finale as Twilight is summoned to the Crystal Empire to seemingly do nothing more than smile and wave at some visiting dignitaries.
She was summoned there by Celestia, as Spike points out in a very insensitive manner on the balcony after her waving is over, who I have said time and time again is given dreams of prophecy and in the next few scenes this is confirmed.
Twilight was actually summoned here to be given ANOTHER test by Trollestia Sunbutt the first!
Now, to be fair, I don't think she's hiding information on purpose but rather was shown in her prophetic dreams that she couldn't outright tell Twilight the future as it was shown to her without altering it in a negative manner.
Celestia didn't choose Twilight as her pupil and successor, the Tree of Harmony did, but she still has developed a loving relationship with her faithful student and finds it unfair that she cannot warn her of things to come.
So what does she do?
She sings a song.
“Your time is coming soon” is a song of prophecy and though it is vague without context it completely outlines what is about to happen in the season 4 finale and one line especially stands out.
“The sun rises and so does the moon.”
Remember that line, we'll come back to it.
Now at this point Celestia only knows that something bad is about to happen and I am going to assume that the visions she has had already are not yet clear due to the uncertainty of what choices will be made between now and then.
This song is Celestia's attempt to both steer things in the right direction and give her pupil a warning without doing anything drastic that might jeopardize the future.
After she makes the decision to do this and serenades her student, with the help of the other two Hasbro Revenue Generating Alicorn Princesses, her sleep is disrupted by a crystal clear vision of what is to come and what must be done.
Thus her prophetic dreams are now completely canon confirmed with Luna acting as a Notary Public to verify and the opening moves in a deadly game of pony chess are played.
In a previous theory I discussed how I believed Discord's body was a vessel for the dream world and that the chaotic power of dreams is where he gets his magic even though he doesn't know that himself.
I also stated that the reason he became sentient and used his magic was to act as an overflow/relief valve so that the container that was his body didn't shatter and engulf the entire pony populace in devastating wave of chaos magic.
This is what Celestia was shown in her dream.
The tree of Harmony arranged for Tirek's escape so that Celestia could send the reformed Discord to hunt him down knowing that the former foe of friendship would succumb to temptation and switch sides allowing Tirek to gain enough power that he could overcome Discord and drain his magic.
Or rather, he would siphon the excess magic that was threatening to overwhelm its container since Discord had become reformed, allowing it to be brought back down to acceptable levels.
“But what about Twilight??? Why did Celestia sing her that song and then not send HER after Tirek?,” I hear you cry!
Well here my little ponies is where it all ties together so sit back and sip some tea.
Celestia knew that Twilight was the key to saving the future of Equestria and all lands around it but she wasn't shown what her student needed to do or how she would do it.
She was only shown images of what was to come and was left to interpret them as best she could at the time.
Rewinding a bit to when Cadence, Luna and Sunbutt all gave Twilight their Alicorn powers it wasn't because they were trying to hide them from Tirek it was because Celestia knew that Twilight was destined to face Tirek and was willing to sacrifice her own magic (and possibly life) to give Purple Book horse a fighting chance when the confrontation occurred.
She then, despite every lesson that has been taught in every other episode so far, tells Twilight that she cannot rely on her friends to help her and that she must suffer through this alone.
The responsibility was solely in her hooves and she was the only one who could possibly succeed.
After they transfer the magic Twilight goes home and wakes spike. He mentions that the Sun isn't up yet and she realizes that it's her job to do this now.
That she is in charge of raising the sun.. and the moon..
Remember that line of the song I said we would come back to?
Foreshadowing!
So here is where I break down the song:
[Twilight Sparkle]
It isn't that I'm ungrateful
For all the things that I've earned,
For all the journeys I have taken,
All the lessons that I have learned
But I wonder where I'm going now,
What my role is meant to be
I don't know how to travel
To a future that I can't see
I have my wings, I wear this crown
I'm a princess, this is true
But it's still unclear to me
Just what I am meant to do
I wanna have a purpose
Wanna do all that I can
I wanna make a contribution
I want to be a part of the plan
Twilight's opening verse is her subconscious feelings of the influence the Tree of Harmony has had on her destiny. All of the manipulation that was required to bring her to this point without her knowledge or permission.

Your destiny's uncertain
And that's sometimes hard to take
But it will become much clearer
With every new choice you make
Celestia's opening line shows that she knows what has been happening and is sympathetic towards Twilight but also knows that soon her destiny is about to become very clear indeed and that her choices will shape the future.
[Princess Luna]
Patience is never easy
I understand wanting more
I know how hard it is to wait
To spread out your wings and soar
Luna's verse is irrelevant and she just didn't want to be left out of the song.
[Princess Cadance]
But you stand here for a reason
You're gifted and you are strong
That crown is upon your head because
You belong
Fillies and Gentlecolts, Princess Cadence NotEvilGoodPony in the role of Captain Obvious!
[Princesses Celestia, Luna, and Cadance]
Know that your time is coming soon
As the sun rises, so does the moon
As love finds a place in every heart
You are a princess; you'll play your part
This verse was rehearsed beforehand and Celestia passed out the scripts.
The time is coming soon when Twilight will be forced to make a decision that will change the future of all Equestria and beyond and that decision will hang solely on finding love in EVERY heart.
Which one of her “friends” has not yet truly given their friendship his full and true love?
Discord.
When Tirek makes Twilight choose between her friends and her magic she chooses to give up the power she has to save them.
Was that the important choice?
Nope!
The important decision that will decide the fate of EVERYONE in Equestria is this:
“Will Twilight forgive Discord for his betrayal?”
When she tells Tirek to release Discord in exchange for her magic, because he is her friend, she shows Discord the true meaning of Friendship.
This allows a bit of the chaos magic trapped in his body to break free and convert into the magic of Harmony which in turn imbues his necklace with the power to become the final key needed unlock the most powerful magic in all the land.
New Toys for Hasbro!
(or rainbow power or whatever...)
Twilight's final Test to fully realize her role as the Princess of Friendship was to show that she was willing to forgive someone who had betrayed her in an almost unforgivable fashion.
Showing that she was a big enough pony to let her personal feelings go and give him yet another chance is what saved everypony.
Once unlocked, the power that was released restored magic to everyone who had lost it, generated thousands of dollars in new revenue for Hasbro and designed a brand new Pony Playset in the center of Ponyville.
Twilight's Castle.
Her castle is the new Tree of Harmony focal point. Since the mane 6 are all element bearers their seats are now the new resting places for the Element gems, or rather, themselves. Sitting in their thrones would be a method for their power to recharge.
The cutie map is a manifestation of the behind the scenes string pulling the Tree of Harmony has been doing up to this point.
It is Twilight's next step towards becoming Celestia's replacement since it is now more actively involving her in its plans.
So there we have it!
This episode is concrete evidence that the Tree of Harmony is the shadowy figure behind the curtain that puppeteers its pawns across the chessboard of Equestria.
